Lunch Special
Lunch Special is a free daily word game where you guess the diner's "Special." This policy explains what information the game does and does not handle. The short version: you play anonymously, we don't ask for accounts, and we don't collect information that identifies you.
We do not require an account and never ask for your name, email address, phone number, or payment details. We do not sell data, and we do not use advertising networks, third-party analytics scripts, or social-media tracking pixels. All fonts, images, and code are served from our own domain.
To make the game work, we store data locally in your browser using
localStorage. This stays on your device and includes:
You can erase all of this at any time by clearing your browser's site data for this site.
When a round starts, the game sends a small message to our server containing the random device identifier described above and the type of round played (today's Special, an archive replay, or a random dish). We use this only to understand how many people play and to distinguish new versus returning devices by day. Because we never collect your name, email, or any other personal identifier, this information cannot reasonably be tied to you as an individual.
The game is hosted on Cloudflare. As with any website, our hosting provider may process technical information such as your IP address in order to deliver and protect the site. We do not use this to identify you and we do not store it in our game database. See the Cloudflare Privacy Policy for details on their processing.
Lunch Special can be launched as a Discord Activity inside a Discord voice channel. In that mode the game runs in a sandboxed frame served through Discord's proxy. This is a minimal embed: we do not request your Discord account, username, email, or identity, and none of that information is sent to us. Your use of Discord itself is governed by Discord's Privacy Policy.
Lunch Special is a general-audience game and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children.
Because everything about your play is stored locally and anonymously, you are in control: clearing your browser's site data (or Discord's app data) removes your saved progress, statistics, and the random device identifier.
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we'll revise the effective date at the top of this page.
